About Me

For fifteen years, Mike has been helping churches, couples, and individuals brainstorm, design, and discern their calling. This has been a joyful journey that weaves together Mike’s theological training, on-going academic research and writing, teaching and speaking experience, and university campus ministry.

Mike’s area of academic focus is in developing a comprehensive, multi-aspectual, non-reductionistic account of the power of civic institutions. In light of the real and serious accounts of church/clergy abuse, he has focused his primary attention on the power of the church, both in its institutional and organic modes of being. He has written at length about Abraham Kuyper’s view of power and about Kuyper’s sacramental ecclesiology. He is an active member of the Institute for Biblical Research and the Tyndale House Scripture Collective.

Mike is the Christian Reformed Campus Minister at Western University. He also teaches theology at Huron University College and New Testament at Redeemer University College.
